New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to assess the progress of the cooperative sector and outlined key initiatives to strengthen its role in economic development.
During the meeting, the PM emphasized the need for global collaborations to expand India’s cooperative movement and highlighted the potential of organic products in the export market through cooperative organizations. He also stressed on leveraging Agristack, a digital platform for agriculture, to enhance productivity and efficiency in the cooperative sector.
To boost financial transactions within the sector, PM Modi underscored the importance of integrating UPI with RuPay Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), making financial transactions smoother for farmers and cooperative members. Additionally, he proposed the introduction of cooperative-related courses in schools and educational institutions to create awareness among youth about the significance of cooperative movements.
A major focus of the discussion was the National Cooperation Policy 2025 draft, which envisions economic prosperity through cooperation (‘Sahkar Se Samruddhi’). The policy aims to accelerate rural economic development, with a special emphasis on empowering women and youth through cooperative initiatives.
This meeting reaffirms the government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector, ensuring its modernization, financial inclusion, and global outreach.
