The eastern coast of India is on high alert as a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression is located about 730 km southeast of Paradip, Odisha, as of 5:30 am today.
This weather system is expected to strengthen further, potentially evolving into Cyclone Dana, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and turbulent sea conditions along the coastlines of Odisha, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh. Coastal authorities are preparing for possible landfall, urging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as the conditions are expected to worsen.
IMD is closely monitoring the situation and will issue further updates as the depression develops.
