Ranchi: Students protesting against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations continued their agitation on today, even as the state government cancelled all recruitment tests conducted by an outsourced agency since 2014, including the JSSC-CGL examination.
The protest comes amid growing demands from students for transparency and accountability in the recruitment examination process. The students are expected to take a decision on Tuesday on whether to call off the agitation following the government’s announcement.
The decision to cancel the examinations was announced after Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a marathon cabinet meeting at the state secretariat on Monday.
The state government has also constituted an exam reforms committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal. The committee will recommend measures to strengthen and improve the recruitment examination process in Jharkhand.
The students’ protest is focused on alleged anomalies in the recruitment examinations and demands for corrective measures from the government. The government’s latest decisions are likely to influence the students’ next course of action.
