Kozhikode: Union Minister for Food Distribution and Social Justice, B.L. Verma, highlighted the pivotal role the cooperative sector will play in India’s development during the coming years. Speaking at the 19th Annual General Meeting of Bharat Legion Multi-State Housing Co-Operative Society in Kozhikode, he emphasized that the central government is actively crafting policies to boost this sector.
Verma praised multi-state cooperative societies like Bharat Legion, recognizing their contributions to providing basic necessities like food and housing to the common man, further aiding India’s progress. He also remarked that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the Cooperative Ministry has been working closely with these organizations, preparing the country for a future as one of the world’s top five economies. He emphasized the need to expand and promote societies like B.L.M. to ensure their continued impact on the nation’s growth.
The event saw the participation of over 12,500 attendees, making it the first cooperative society general meeting to enter the World Book of Records for such a massive gathering. Minister Verma also honored Adv. Prakash Babu, who secured first rank in the LLM examination at Kannur University, with a traditional shawl.
Leaders like Pondicherry Social Welfare Minister Sai Saravanan, Deputy Speaker Raj Velu, and several key figures from B.L.M. spoke at the event, reinforcing the importance of cooperation in national development.
