A week after the Kerala Assembly election results were announced, the Congress leadership is yet to finalise its choice for the next Chief Minister. Senior leaders KC Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala and VD Satheesan are among the main names being discussed for the post.
As part of the consultation process, the party high command has called former KPCC presidents and current party leaders to Delhi for discussions. However, the move has reportedly triggered dissatisfaction within the camp of VD Satheesan.
Sources said Satheesan’s supporters believe seeking the opinions of KPCC working presidents is unnecessary and argue that many of them are aligned with KC Venugopal. Reports also suggest that Satheesan has already conveyed his displeasure to the party high command.
Former KPCC presidents including K Muraleedharan, K Sudhakaran, Mullappally Ramachandran and MM Hassan are expected to participate in the discussions in Delhi.
Current leaders including Shafi Parambil, AP Anil Kumar and PC Vishnunath are also likely to attend the meetings.
