Breaking Stigma: Baby Shower Held for HIV-Positive Women in Maharashtra

In a socially significant initiative, an NGO in Maharashtra’s Parbhani organised a traditional baby shower for two HIV-positive pregnant women, aiming to challenge stigma and promote awareness around HIV.

The event, held last week, celebrated motherhood with dignity and compassion. Organisers said the initiative was intended to dispel common myths about HIV and highlight that, with proper medical care and treatment, children born to HIV-positive mothers can be healthy and HIV-negative.

Both women were married through the efforts of the Homoeopathic Academy of Research and Charities (HARC). During the ceremony, they were honoured with gifts and essential daily-use items as part of the celebration.

The programme has been widely appreciated as a step towards reducing social discrimination and encouraging a more informed and empathetic understanding of HIV.
