BJP Says Ram Mandir Donation Theft Accused Will Face Strict Legal Action

New Delhi: The BJP on Monday said that those accused in the alleged embezzlement of donations from the Ram Mandir will face strict legal action and will not be spared, while also claiming they are facing social boycott.

The party referred to a resolution passed by the Faizabad Bar Association, which decided that none of its members would represent the eight accused arrested in the alleged Ram Mandir donation theft case. The association also warned that any lawyer violating the resolution would face a penalty of ₹5 lakh.

BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said the accused were facing both legal consequences and social condemnation, describing the Bar Association’s decision as a reflection of public sentiment. He also accused opposition parties of supporting accused persons in several high-profile cases for political gains.

Another BJP spokesperson, Tuhin Sinha, said that while the party understands the sentiments behind the Bar Association’s decision, the case will proceed strictly according to the rule of law. He reiterated that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured exemplary punishment for those found guilty and speedy justice in the case.

The eight accused, who were involved in counting cash and valuables donated at the Ram Temple, were arrested in connection with the alleged embezzlement and remanded to judicial custody until June 29.

During the Faizabad Bar Association’s general body meeting, lawyers also demanded that Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao, who are associated with the temple’s management but are not named as accused in the FIR, leave Ayodhya. They warned that if the three did not leave within three days, they would launch an agitation, including blocking entry into the city.
