New Delhi: Giving a massive thrust to India’s agricultural transformation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday rolled out two flagship initiatives worth ₹35,440 crore, aimed at revolutionizing the nation’s farm sector and empowering millions of cultivators.
At the ‘Krishi’ programme, the Prime Minister personally interacted with farmers from across the country, listening to their experiences, success stories, and suggestions for the future of Indian agriculture.
The newly launched schemes — PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (₹24,000 crore) and Mission for Aatmanirbhar Krishi (₹11,440 crore) — are set to boost farm productivity, promote sustainable agriculture, and enhance rural livelihoods.
Calling agriculture the backbone of India’s progress, PM Modi said the initiatives mirror the government’s commitment to making Indian farming “modern, profitable, and self-reliant.” PM highlighted the pivotal role of innovation, technology, and youth participation, especially that of women farmers, in driving the sector forward.
Officials noted that the schemes will significantly improve access to credit, insurance, and modern agri-infrastructure, accelerating the march toward Aatmanirbhar Bharat and ensuring that farmers remain at the heart of India’s development story.
