Krishi Samruddhi Haritha Koythu 2025: Indian Vartha Honored with Three Prestigious Awards

Thrissur: The Krishi Samruddhi Haritha Koythu 2025 celebrations, organized under the leadership of PLANTS (People Loving Agriculture, Nature, Trees, and Soil), were held at the Thrissur Press Club Hall with vibrant participation from farmers, women, and environmental achievers. The event was inaugurated by Thrissur Deputy Mayor M. L. Rosi, who highlighted the urgent need for greater focus on sustainable farming, soil health, and environmental conservation.“This is the time when we must pay greater attention to agriculture, soil, and the environment. Groups like PLANTS can play a vital role in leading meaningful initiatives,” Deputy Mayor said.

The event featured several notable sessions. Suresh Edappal, State General Secretary of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), delivered the keynote address, while B. N. Nagaraj IFS, Director of Puthoor Zoological Park, officially unveiled the event logo. A special seminar on “Agriculture and Soil” was inaugurated by P. N. Surendran, Chairman of Wadakkanchery Municipality.

One of the major highlights was the recognition of the Indian Vartha YouTube channel, which bagged three awards for its outstanding agriculture-based programs. The honors went to K. M. Sudheer, Managing Director and Jeevan Jyothi Executive Director; S. Anand, Chief Editor; and Shruthi A. S., Executive Editor and host of Krishiyidam. Their contribution to spreading agricultural knowledge and awareness through digital media was highly appreciated.

In addition, state-level awards were presented to distinguished personalities across various fields, including agriculture, veterinary science, environmental research, forestry, engineering, and media. Among the awardees were Dr. V. M. Harris, Dr. Sumi Chandran, Dr. Sudheesh Manalil, Dr. P. O. Namir, Dr. Smitha K. P., Sindhu Bhaskar, Ajith Kumar Panikkath, Subha N. V., Nayana Arjun, Harikrishnan, and journalists Sibi, Pradeep Unni, and Prajeesh.

The knowledge-sharing sessions also stood out, with a seminar on “Soil and Bio-fertilizers” led by P. Manoj Kumar, Regional Manager of IPL, and Rahul, moderated by M. A. Sudheer Babu, Thrissur Soil Survey Officer.

The event concluded with a meaningful gesture—the free distribution of vegetable seedlings and seeds to farmers and women, coordinated by Councilor Reji Joy Chackolal—promoting grassroots agricultural growth and community participation.
