PM Modi Leads Crucial Meeting to Finalize Delhi’s New Chief Minister

New Delhi is set for a historic political shift as Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs a high-stakes meeting today to finalize the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Chief Ministerial pick. Following the party’s decisive victory in the recent Assembly elections, this marks BJP’s return to power in the capital after nearly three decades.

The selection process kicks off at noon with the BJP’s Parliamentary Board convening to appoint observers for a crucial legislative party meeting later in the day. The newly elected legislators will then select their leader, who will be officially appointed as the Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place on February 20 at the iconic Ramlila Maidan.

Several names are in the running for the top post, with Vijender Gupta, a seasoned three-time MLA and former Leader of Opposition, emerging as a strong contender. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who secured victory in Rajouri Garden, is also in the race, along with Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh) and Ashish Sood (Janakpuri).

With the BJP reclaiming Delhi’s governance after 27 years, today’s meeting is expected to shape the city’s future leadership and political landscape. All eyes are now on the final decision that will determine the next Chief Minister of India’s capital.
