Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Bans Protests at Parliament Gates After Clash Over Ambedkar Row

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a directive prohibiting protests and demonstrations by Members of Parliament and political parties at the gates of Parliament House. This decision comes after a heated confrontation between the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led INDIA bloc at the Makar Dwar gate.

The clash stemmed from rival protests regarding alleged insults to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The scuffle escalated into physical altercations, leaving two BJP MPs injured.

Emphasizing the need to preserve the dignity and decorum of Parliament, Speaker Birla directed that no dharna or demonstration should take place at the Parliament gates. The move is aimed at preventing disruptions and ensuring the smooth operation of parliamentary proceedings.

The directive underscores the importance of maintaining order and respect within the country’s highest legislative institution.
