Jammu: The Centre is stepping up efforts to provide early intervention and rehabilitation support to children with disabilities, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Saturday.
Speaking at the Prabudh Matri Shakti Sammelan in Kathua district on preventing avoidable disabilities and empowering Divyangjans, Singh said the government was giving priority to early identification and timely care.
He said cross-disability early intervention centres are being set up across the country to identify developmental challenges at an early stage and provide suitable assistance to children from infancy.
According to the minister, timely identification followed by appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and sustained support can significantly improve a child’s developmental outcomes.
Such interventions can also help children participate more effectively in education and enable them to contribute more fully to society, he added.
