Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam remained critical on Monday, with the death toll rising to 100 after two more fatalities were reported, while nearly 1.4 lakh people have been affected across seven districts, according to an official bulletin.
An official of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said several rivers were flowing above their danger levels, raising concerns about floods spreading to newer areas.
According to the ASDMA’s daily flood bulletin issued on Sunday night, two people died in flood-related incidents in Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts during the past 24 hours.
The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as rising water levels in several rivers threaten more areas across the state.
