INS Sahyadri Arrives in Russia for INDRA 2026 Naval Exercise

Vladivostok: Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri arrived at Vladivostok, Russia, on October 10 to participate in Exercise INDRA 2026, a bilateral naval exercise between the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy scheduled from October 13 to 18.

The deployment aims to strengthen maritime cooperation, improve operational coordination and enhance interoperability between the two navies through professional engagements and joint activities.

INS Sahyadri’s participation aligns with the Government of India’s MAHASAGAR vision — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions — and builds on the longstanding defence and maritime partnership between India and Russia. The deployment also follows the momentum generated by the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held on December 4–5, 2025.

Exercise INDRA 2026 will begin with engagements during the harbour phase, followed by coordinated operational activities at sea. The exercise will feature professional interactions and maritime manoeuvres aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and operational coordination.

Social and cultural programmes will also be organised to promote camaraderie and people-to-people connections between personnel of the two navies.
