India, Japan Sign Joint Statement on Strengthening Energy Resilience

NEW DELHI: India and Japan on Thursday agreed to deepen cooperation to strengthen energy resilience amid evolving global geopolitical challenges. The joint statement was issued following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in New Delhi.

The two countries agreed to collaborate on strategic petroleum reserves, energy transportation, market stability, and institutional partnerships. They also pledged to enhance information sharing, explore joint investments in maritime energy transport, and strengthen cooperation on oil and gas supplies from third countries.

To advance these initiatives, India and Japan will use the India-Japan Joint Working Group on Petroleum and Natural Gas under the India-Japan Energy Dialogue as a platform for regular discussions and cooperation.
