Panaji: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday interacted with more than 1,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from across Goa.
Describing BLOs as the “foundational pillar” of the world’s largest democracy, Kumar said electoral rolls and the election process are carried out in accordance with the Constitution, law and Election Commission guidelines.
He highlighted the key role played by Goa’s BLOs in preparing and safeguarding the integrity of electoral rolls, noting that the process is also scrutinised by representatives of political parties and candidates.
Short videos explaining the roles of BLOs in Konkani and Booth Level Agents in English were released during the event. A cultural programme showcasing Goa’s traditions was also held, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with the CEC.
