New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for sustained and time-bound follow-up on the key decisions taken at the two-day National Departmental Summit on Water organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Chairing the summit’s valedictory session, Modi stressed the need for continuous review rather than treating the summit as a one-time exercise. He called for greater adoption of water-saving technologies and urged Urban Local Bodies to prepare for rising water demand amid rapid urbanisation.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Jan Bhagidari, suggesting the promotion of “Jal Utsav” to raise public awareness, while calling for regular de-silting with clear guidelines and stronger dam safety preparedness ahead of every monsoon.
He further advocated strengthening water management expertise in higher educational institutions and organising inter-State study visits for officials, public representatives and farmers to share successful practices.
