Ahmedabad: A 17-year-old student died by suicide in Ahmedabad, days before the NEET-UG re-examination, police said.
The deceased, identified as Rehan Patel, allegedly jumped from the sixth floor of a residential building in the New Ranip area at around 2.30 a.m. on Friday. According to reports, he cut through a safety net installed near the balcony attached to his bedroom before the incident.
The student had secured 85 per cent marks in his Class 12 examinations and had also performed well in the NEET examination. Reports indicate that he had applied for a pharmacy course as an alternative option in case he was unable to secure a medical seat.
The exact reason behind the incident remains unclear. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the student’s death.
