Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented the revised Budget for 2026–27 in the State Assembly on Friday, outlining a vision to build a “New Kerala” through inclusive growth and sustainable infrastructure development.
Highlighting the challenges facing the state, the Chief Minister said the government is dealing with severe fiscal stress, hidden liabilities, declining remittances and inflationary pressures.
As part of the Budget, the government announced Mission Samudra, an initiative aimed at developing a port-led economy and transforming Kerala into a global maritime and economic hub.
Presenting the Budget, Satheesan said the government remains committed to boosting economic growth through broad-based development strategies, attracting large-scale investments across key sectors and mobilising financial resources to strengthen the state’s finances.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring equitable distribution of wealth and creating opportunities that benefit all sections of society.
The revised Budget outlines the government’s roadmap for sustainable development, infrastructure expansion and long-term economic growth while addressing the financial challenges confronting the state.
