New Delhi: Prince Rahim Aga Khan V met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday during his first official visit to India since assuming the position of Aga Khan.
Welcoming him to India, President Murmu conveyed her condolences on the passing of his father, the late Aga Khan IV. She said India holds Aga Khan IV and the work of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in high regard.
The President praised the AKDN’s work in India across several sectors, including water and sanitation, education, maternal healthcare, urban redevelopment, women’s empowerment and employment generation.
She described the projects as notable examples of public-private partnerships, highlighting the role of non-profit organisations working alongside the government in improving the quality of life of communities.
The meeting took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan on September 10, 2026.
