Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan has criticised the state Health Department over its handling of the Nipah virus situation, alleging that the seriousness of the issue is not being adequately addressed.
Speaking to reporters, Pinarayi Vijayan said Nipah is a matter of grave concern and accused the government of failing to implement effective preventive measures. He claimed that the current response was inadequate and described the situation as highly disappointing.
He also pointed out that the Health Minister had not yet visited the affected area and stressed the need to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure a more proactive intervention. Pinarayi Vijayan urged the government to review how previous Nipah outbreaks were managed and adopt effective measures accordingly.
The opposition leader called for stronger coordination and preparedness to contain the spread of the virus and safeguard public health.
