IAF Transport Aircraft Crashes During Landing in Assam

An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Rowriah Air Force Station in Assam’s Jorhat district.

According to preliminary reports, the aircraft caught fire during landing, leading to the accident. Unconfirmed reports suggest that one of the pilots may have died, though there has been no official confirmation from authorities.

The aircraft was reportedly carrying two pilots at the time of the crash. The IAF said emergency response teams have reached the site and rescue operations are underway.

The crash comes months after an IAF Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet went down in the Inglong Ikopi Hill area. The airbase where the latest accident occurred is located around 60 kilometres from the site of that earlier crash.
