Veena T., daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, has requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to postpone her scheduled appearance for questioning in connection with the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) money laundering case, sources said on Thursday.
The ED had summoned Veena to appear before its investigation team at the agency’s Kochi office on Friday as part of its ongoing probe into the alleged financial irregularities linked to the case.
However, according to sources, Veena recently sent an email to the central agency seeking a deferment of the questioning, citing health-related concerns.
The ED is investigating alleged transactions involving CMRL under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Further details regarding the agency’s response to her request were not immediately available.
The case has drawn significant public and political attention in Kerala due to its alleged links to individuals associated with the state’s political leadership.
