Four Government Doctors Booked After Child’s Rabies Death in Kollam

A case has been registered against four government doctors in Kerala following the death of Niya a seven-year-old girl from rabies after a stray dog attack in Punalur, officials said on Thursday.

The victim, Niya Faisal from Pathanapuram, was attacked by a stray dog while playing in front of her house. She later succumbed to rabies in May last year.

She was initially taken to the Government Taluk Hospital in Punalur and later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for further treatment.

Authorities said the case against the doctors has been registered based on allegations related to lapses in medical care. Further investigation is underway.
