Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the deaths caused by a wall collapse at a hospital in Bengaluru and announced financial assistance for the victims.
At least seven people, including a child, were killed and seven others injured when a compound wall of Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital collapsed following heavy rain.
In a statement, the Prime Minister termed the incident “unfortunate” and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured.
He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured, officials said.
