Record Voter Turnout Marks End of Bengal Assembly Polls

The West Bengal Assembly elections concluded on Wednesday with a record voter turnout of 92.84 per cent, the highest ever in the state, according to the Election Commission.

Polling in the second and final phase recorded a turnout of 92.48 per cent across 142 constituencies in south Bengal. This closely follows the first phase held on April 23, which had registered a turnout of 93.19 per cent.

The high voter participation has intensified anticipation ahead of the results, scheduled to be announced on Monday. Both major political camps have expressed confidence about their chances of forming the next government.

Officials said the final turnout figures may see minor revisions after consolidation, but the overall participation remains historically high.
