The death toll in the Mundathikode fireworks unit explosion in Kerala has risen to 16, following the death of another injured person undergoing treatment.
According to police, Unnikrishnan (58), a native of Edappal, succumbed to his injuries at Thrissur Medical College on April 26. He was among the 38 people present at the fireworks manufacturing unit when the explosion occurred on April 21.
Officials said several others injured in the incident are still undergoing treatment.
The explosion, which took place at the fireworks unit in Mundathikode, had caused severe burn injuries to many workers, triggering a major rescue and medical response. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the incident
