New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday said that attacks on merchant shipping are “completely unacceptable,” stressing India’s firm commitment to ensuring safe and uninterrupted maritime transit.

At a separate media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India continues its diplomatic engagement in response to the evolving situation in the region.

He also shared details of the recent telephonic conversation between Narendra Modi and Donald Trump, noting that the developments in West Asia were among the key issues discussed by the two leaders.
