Iran Sets Conditions for Peace; Warns US Over Strait of Hormuz
Tehran: Iran has expressed readiness to restore peace in the region if the United States and Israel recognize Iran’s legitimate rights, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.
Three Key Conditions for Ending the War
According to the president, Iran has put forward three main conditions to end the ongoing conflict: full recognition of Iran’s sovereignty, adequate compensation for damages caused by the war, and international guarantees that similar attacks will not occur in the future.
Pezeshkian said he had conveyed the same position during his conversations with leaders of Russia and Pakistan. He added that Iran remains committed to peace in the region, but the war—initiated by the United States and Israel—must end with recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights.
UN Security Council Passes Resolution
Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution calling for Iran to immediately halt its attacks in the region. However, Russia and China abstained from the vote.
Iran criticized the resolution, describing it as biased and politically motivated.
Warning Over the Strait of Hormuz
At the same time, US President Donald Trump warned that if Iran attempts to block oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would retaliate with force “20 times stronger” than the current response.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani dismissed Trump’s warning. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also stated that ships linked to the United States, Israel, or their allies could become potential targets.
Rising tensions and strong warnings from both sides have heightened concerns about further escalation in the region.
