Tehran: Tensions across West Asia have escalated sharply as the United States and Israel launched fresh strikes on strategic locations in Iran, including areas around Tehran, late on Wednesday night. According to reports, the attacks primarily targeted missile launch pads and weapons storage facilities, aiming to weaken Iran’s missile capabilities. The US claimed the strikes had significantly damaged Iran’s missile infrastructure and were intended to halt Iran’s continued missile attacks toward the Gulf region. Despite this, Iran reportedly launched another missile toward Saudi Arabia, which Saudi authorities said was successfully intercepted. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Iran could target Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility if the attacks by Israel and the US intensify further.
In a separate development, an explosion occurred on a cargo ship about 30 nautical miles off Kuwait’s coast near Mubarak Al-Kabeer, causing oil from the vessel to spill into the sea. Authorities said water was also entering the ship, though all crew members remain safe. At the same time, Israel intensified airstrikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, including the Haret Hreik area, claiming the strikes targeted locations linked to Hezbollah. The attacks reportedly killed three people and injured six others. As a precautionary security measure, Qatar temporarily evacuated residents living near the US Embassy in Doha, highlighting growing concerns over the widening regional conflict.
