India–U.S. Trade Deal in Final Stretch; Joint Statement Expected in 4–5 Days, Says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi: India and the United States are on the verge of sealing a long-awaited trade agreement, with a joint statement likely to be finalised and signed within the next four to five days, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced.

The Minister said talks between the two countries have reached an advanced stage, reflecting strong political will on both sides to strengthen bilateral economic ties. Goyal added that the formal legal agreement, which will also enable India to reduce select tariffs, is expected to be completed by mid-March.

The proposed deal aims to address long-pending trade issues, improve market access, and promote smoother movement of goods and services between the two nations. Negotiators have been working closely to iron out differences related to tariffs, regulatory norms, and sector-specific concerns.

The agreement is designed to ensure a balanced and mutually beneficial outcome, protecting India’s domestic industries while opening up new avenues for trade and investment. Once concluded, the deal is expected to give fresh momentum to cooperation in key sectors such as manufacturing, technology, agriculture, and services.

With India–U.S. trade relations steadily expanding, the upcoming agreement is being seen as a significant milestone in deepening the strategic and economic partnership between the two global economies.
