Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has extended the deadline for social security pension beneficiaries to submit income certificates by six months. Authorities have also been directed not to suspend pensions for beneficiaries who fail to submit the certificates within the earlier stipulated time.
In May 2025, the government had instructed welfare pension beneficiaries who had never submitted an income certificate to do so, fixing December 31, 2025, as the deadline. Of the over 6.2 million welfare pension beneficiaries in the state, around 2.53 lakh had not submitted an income certificate even once.
The extension applies to beneficiaries who were selected for pensions on or before December 31, 2019. Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal said the additional six months have been granted to help this group comply with the requirement. Beneficiaries can upload their income certificates through Akshaya centres by June 30.
The move aims to ensure that welfare pension payments continue without interruption while allowing beneficiaries more time to complete the necessary formalities.
