The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today informed about the conferment of the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna on former Prime Minister Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh.
He praised the late leader for dedicating his entire life to the rights of farmers and their welfare.
The Prime Minister posted on X:
“Our government is fortunate that former Prime Minister of the country Chaudhary Charan Singh ji is being awarded Bharat Ratna. This honor is dedicated to his incomparable contribution to the country. He dedicated his entire life for the rights and welfare of farmers. Be it as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh or the Home Minister of the country and even as an MLA, he always provided impetus to nation-building. They also stood firm against the Emergency. His sense of dedication for our farmer brothers and sisters and the Emergency, His commitment to democracy during the Emergency is inspiring for the entire nation. “
