Ranchi: Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education Minister Sudivya Kumar died of cardiac arrest in Giridih early Sunday, officials said. He was 56.
Suvidya Kumar was rushed to a private hospital in Giridih, his hometown, at around 2.30 am after suffering a cardiac arrest. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him dead at around 4 am, officials said.
A Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator, Kumar was holding several key portfolios in the state government, including Higher and Technical Education, Urban Development, Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Sports and Youth Affairs.
His sudden death has come as a shock to the political fraternity and his supporters.
Suvidya Kumar is survived by his wife, Shweta Sharma, two daughters and a son.
