Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) has ordered a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding a road accident in Kaipamangalam, Thrissur district, that claimed the lives of eight men from Tamil Nadu.
Commission member V Geetha directed the Palakkad Project Director of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Thrissur Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to conduct the investigation and submit a report within two weeks.
The Commission has specifically asked officials to examine allegations that unauthorised parking of goods lorries along the highway and the absence of adequate warning and road signboards contributed to the accident.
The probe will also look into whether lapses in traffic management and highway safety measures played a role in the fatal crash.
