US Tightens Visa Rules: Social Media Posts Supporting Terror Groups Can Lead to Rejection

New Delhi – The United States has announced a strict new immigration policy, warning that social media content can now impact visa and Green Card approvals. According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), posts that support or promote anti-Semitic terrorist groups or ideologies will be treated as red flags during immigration screenings.

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), stated that foreign nationals who show support for groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad may be denied entry or residency in the US. There is no place in America for those sympathetic to terrorism,” McLaughlin said. “We have no obligation to let them enter or stay in the country.

The new policy, effective immediately, brings tighter scrutiny of visa and Green Card applicants’ online behavior, particularly any anti-Semitic content or extremist affiliations. It applies to all immigration-related benefits, reinforcing the US stance on national security and counterterrorism.
