Thiruvananthapuram – In a significant move to regulate online movie ticket sales and ensure transparency in pricing, the Kerala government is set to launch a dedicated mobile app for booking movie tickets online. The initiative is part of the state’s efforts to curb excessive service charges and bring all theatres under a unified ticketing platform.
The app, developed under the supervision of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), will allow users to book tickets for theatres across the state, including multiplexes and single screens. The platform aims to offer a user-friendly interface, secure payment gateway, and real-time seat availability, making the booking process smooth and accessible for all moviegoers.
With the new system in place, theatres will be required to list their shows on the platform, helping ensure uniform pricing and greater transparency. The government has clarified that convenience fees will be regulated, preventing the kind of inflated charges often seen on private ticketing platforms.
The app is expected to be rolled out in the coming months, and authorities believe it will benefit both audiences and theatre owners while promoting digital ticketing and fair trade practices in the entertainment sector.
