Trinamool Congress Launches Membership Drive in Kerala; Future with UDF Unclear

Manjeri: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has officially launched its membership drive in Kerala, signaling its intent to expand its presence in the state. Senior party leaders Derek O’Brien and Mahua Moitra attended a delegates’ meet in Manjeri, where they emphasized Trinamool’s commitment to providing an alternative political voice in Kerala.

However, when asked about the possibility of the Trinamool Congress joining the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), O’Brien stated that it was “too early to say.” He added that the party’s immediate focus is on strengthening its base and engaging with like-minded individuals across Kerala.

Trinamool’s expansion efforts in the state come at a time when regional politics is witnessing shifts, especially with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While the party has established a strong foothold in West Bengal and the Northeast, its prospects in Kerala remain uncertain.

Political observers are keenly watching how Trinamool’s Kerala foray will impact existing alliances and voter dynamics in the state.
