Thousands of yoga enthusiasts around the world took part in International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21, with Indian diplomatic missions hosting special events to promote the ancient practice and its benefits for health and well-being.
Observed annually since its adoption by the United Nations in 2014, International Day of Yoga was celebrated this year under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The theme highlights yoga’s role in supporting physical fitness, mental wellness, and healthy living across all age groups.
In China, around 400 participants, including diplomats, academics, yoga practitioners, and members of the Indian diaspora, joined celebrations organised by the Consulate General of India in Shanghai at the Bund Finance Centre.
Similar events were held in several countries, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to practice yoga and raise awareness about its contribution to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
