Chikmagalur: The preliminary postmortem report of Sreenanda, a native of Kadambazhipuram in Palakkad who died during a tourist trip to Chikmagalur, has identified severe head injuries as the cause of death, officials said.
According to the report, Sreenanda sustained serious injuries to the right side of her head. Additional injuries consistent with a fall were also noted.
Sreenanda had gone missing last Tuesday evening near the Manikyadhara Falls. Following an extensive search operation lasting four days, her body was recovered from a depth of around 1,500 feet on Thursday.
Authorities said the body will be transported to her residence in Kadambazhipuram later today for final rites. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the incident.
