Relief from Scorching Heat: Summer Rains Expected, Yellow Alert Issued in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted summer rains in Kerala in the coming days, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat. A yellow alert has been issued for several districts on Thursday and Friday due to the possibility of heavy rainfall.

On Thursday, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts are expected to receive heavy rain, while on Friday, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts have been placed under yellow alert. The IMD defines heavy rainfall as precipitation between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the weather department has also warned of rising temperatures across the state today and tomorrow. Temperatures are expected to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal levels.

In light of extreme heat conditions, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has advised the public to take necessary precautions.
