Rajasthan Government Working to Preserve Heritage, Remove Colonial Symbols: CM Sharma

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Saturday said the state government is committed to preserving India’s cultural and spiritual heritage while removing symbols associated with colonial rule.

Speaking after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 41 development projects worth more than ₹74 crore in Sirohi district, Sharma said such efforts are aimed at restoring the nation’s self-respect and strengthening its cultural identity.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister formally dedicated the restored name “Abu Raj” for Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station. He said the move reflects the government’s commitment to promoting the state’s historical and cultural legacy.

Sharma stated that the renaming initiative is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi” (Heritage as well as Development), which seeks to balance cultural preservation with modern development.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure development while ensuring that the country’s rich heritage and traditions are protected for future generations.
