
New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on today attended the 12th National Handloom Day celebrations at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi, where she presented the Sant Kabir Handloom Awards and the National Handloom Awards 2025 to outstanding artisans and weavers.
The awards recognise excellence in handloom weaving and honour the contribution of artisans who have preserved and promoted India’s rich textile heritage.
On the occasion, President Murmu also released four commemorative postage stamps celebrating India’s diverse and vibrant handloom weaving traditions.
The National Handloom Day celebrations highlighted the importance of the handloom sector in preserving the country’s cultural heritage, supporting livelihoods and promoting sustainable craftsmanship. The event was attended by dignitaries, award winners and representatives from the handloom industry.
