Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, today. The event, running from January 8 to 10, 2025, celebrates the immense contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s growth and global influence.
In his address, PM Modi underscored India’s remarkable progress in the 21st century, emphasizing the country’s capacity to meet the growing global demand for skilled talent. He expressed profound gratitude to the Indian diaspora for their invaluable support in enhancing India’s standing on the world stage, reiterating that their welfare and safety are central to India’s foreign policy.
As part of the inaugural activities, PM Modi launched four exhibitions highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage, technological achievements, and the immense contributions of the diaspora. He also flagged off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train dedicated to the Indian diaspora.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas serves as a key platform to strengthen ties between India and its global community, fostering collaboration and support for the nation’s development goals.
