Bhagalpur, Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone on February 24, 2025, by releasing the 19th instalment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana, benefiting 9.8 crore farmers across India with a direct fund transfer of ₹22,000 crore. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, ensuring financial stability for small and marginal farmers. Since its inception in 2019, the government has disbursed an impressive ₹3.68 lakh crore to support India’s agricultural backbone.
Alongside this, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for key infrastructure and agricultural projects aimed at boosting Bihar’s development. Notable initiatives include the launch of the 10,000th Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) under the National Agriculture Development Plan (NADP), a ₹33.80 crore Regional Centre of Excellence for Crop Research in Motihari, and the ₹526 crore doubling of the Varisaliganj–Nawada–Tilaiya rail section. Additionally, the newly constructed Ismailpur-RafiGanj Road Over Bridge (₹47 crore) will enhance connectivity in the region.
With tight SPG security arrangements, the Prime Minister also engaged with farmers, addressing their concerns and discussing measures to enhance agricultural productivity. The PM-KISAN scheme and these development projects reaffirm the government’s commitment to rural progress, driving economic growth and empowering Bihar’s farming community.
