PM Modi Inaugurates ICA Global Cooperative Conference 2024, Showcasing India’s Leadership in Cooperatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Global Cooperative Conference 2024 on November 25 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This historic event marks the first-ever hosting of the ICA General Assembly and Global Cooperative Conference in India, attracting over 100 countries’ participation.

Themed “Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All,” the conference underscores the transformative role of cooperatives in driving global development and sustainability. During the opening ceremony, PM Modi unveiled a commemorative stamp to celebrate the United Nations’ declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives.

A key highlight of the event is the exhibition “Haat,” featuring innovative cooperative products and services from across India, emphasizing grassroots participation and empowerment. Global leaders, including the Prime Minister of Bhutan and the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, joined the six-day event to discuss cooperative-driven solutions for a sustainable and inclusive future.

This milestone event reflects India’s growing stature in the global cooperative movement while promoting collaborative economic models for shared prosperity.
