Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound sorrow over a tragic stampede near Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati, which claimed six lives and left several others injured.
The incident occurred during the distribution of ‘darshan’ tokens at the Tirumala Srivari Vaikuntha Dwara ticketing counter, resulting in a sudden rush among devotees.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said, “Pained by the stampede in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover soon. The Andhra Pradesh Government is providing all possible assistance to those affected.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his condolences, expressing deep shock and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The Andhra Pradesh government assured that all necessary support is being extended to the victims and their families during this difficult time. The tragedy has cast a shadow over the otherwise vibrant pilgrimage destination, with authorities stepping up measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
