More than 1.86 lakh candidates appeared for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) conducted on Sunday for admission to the five-year BS-MS programme offered by seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) for the 2026–27 academic session.
According to officials, the examination was conducted for the first time by IISER Berhampur in Odisha.
The three-hour computer-based test (CBT) was held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at 736 examination centres across the country under stringent security arrangements.
The IISER Aptitude Test serves as a key gateway for students seeking admission to the prestigious BS-MS programmes offered by the IISERs, which are known for their focus on scientific research and higher education.
Authorities said the examination was conducted smoothly, with necessary measures in place to ensure a fair and secure testing environment for candidates.
