New Delhi: India will celebrate its 80th Independence Day on August 15 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the national celebrations at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi amid patriotic fervour and heightened security arrangements.
For the first time, the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ will be rendered as part of the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, adding a special feature to this year’s commemorative events.
Similar ceremonial programmes will be organised across the country, including at state capitals, cities and towns. The celebrations will feature flag-hoisting ceremonies followed by cultural programmes and other events highlighting India’s national spirit and heritage.
