Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday criticised the Opposition over its stance on the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ Bill, alleging that their actions amounted to an insult to women.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Yadav compared the Opposition’s behaviour to the ‘Cheer Haran’ (disrobing) of Draupadi in the Mahabharata, a reference he used to underline the seriousness of his accusation.
He said the bill was not an ordinary piece of legislation but a significant step aimed at empowering women and securing their rights. The Chief Minister further argued that obstructing such a bill reflects a disregard for women’s empowerment.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions over the proposed women’s reservation legislation.
